Fishing within Mtubatuba municipality and
surrounding areas of the Greater St. Lucia wetlands park world heritage site
along the Elephant Coast of KZN South Africa can be quite exciting at
certain times of the year when the various species as listed below shoal and
come into the shallows where they may be enticed into taking your bait.
Shad
Grunter
salmon
garick and
kingfish
Unfortunately the
4x4 ban makes it rather difficult to fish some of these hot spots, but
the walk along the beach is really worth it when you land a wonderful giant
kingfish or large salmon.
The town of Mtubatuba is a little less than 30 Km from the ocean, and
is a good base area if you are going to fish the whole coast line and
the Jozini dam. Try one of these options..
Tiger fishing on Jozini dam
Fresh water fly fishing
Saltwater fly fishing
Boating on lake St. Lucia
Deep sea fishing
Rock and surf angling
Estuary boating and fishing
The Elephant Coast stretches from Mapelane in the South to Kozi bay and
the Mozambique border in the north, and there are some very good spots
in-between.
